When I chat with friends from big cities, I sometimes hear them say: “Český Těšín? That’s the middle of nowhere, isn’t it?” I just smile. Because it’s right here that I meet people and businesses who prove the opposite. Sometimes all it takes is opening a door. And an ordinary morning turns into something that will be remembered for a long time to come.
On Wednesday 12 August, senior citizens gathered at the Social Services Centre in Český Těšín for a group memory training session. It was meant to be a pleasant get-together full of games, conversation and reminiscences.
But nobody had any idea that a surprise was waiting just outside the door…

Halfway through the programme, the door opened and representatives from FINIDR entered the room. They were carrying a parcel tied with a red ribbon. It was magical! No grand speeches, no spotlights and no need to be in the limelight. They came simply to bring joy.
And it worked.
Within moments, the room was filled with smiles, surprise and genuine childlike curiosity. The elderly residents began to examine the new wooden picture sudoku puzzles, and many couldn’t wait to give them a go.
What had started as an ordinary morning turned into a moment that brought everyone together around a single table.
It is at times like these that one realises that true joy often does not come from grand gifts. It springs from thoughtfulness, from caring about others, and from a willingness to give one’s time where it can bring a smile.
For me personally, it was wonderful to see how little it sometimes takes to make the eyes of those around us light up. And also to be reminded once again that successful companies are driven not just by technology, machines or results, but above all by people.
We would like to thank FINIDR for a gesture that was not grand in scale, but significant in its impact. Because it is precisely moments like these that open the door to joy. And sometimes much more than we can imagine.

Who I am and how LaFi Ovečka came about
My name is Lucie Korhelová and I am the founder of the Czech brand LaFi Ovečka. The idea of designing and producing my own educational and activity aids for children and older people didn’t come about overnight. It arose quite naturally from a desire to create things that have a deeper meaning, help develop fine motor skills, train the memory and bring pure joy into life through time spent together.
This idea also gave rise to the ‘LaFi Cycle of Joy’ project, which connects companies, organisations and individuals with places where their donations and support can make a real difference. FINIDR became one of the project’s first partners.
I believe that even a small gesture can brighten someone’s day. And it is moments like these that give my work meaning.
If you’re interested in LaFi Ovečky’s products and would like to have a look at them, try them out, or work together to find ways to bring joy to children or older people in your community, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
You’ll find a showroom at Čapkova 11 in Český Těšín. I don’t have fixed opening hours, as I’m often travelling or working out in the field. However, if you arrange a time by phone in advance, I’d be delighted to welcome you and show you everything we create under the LaFi Ovečka brand.
