Text: PJ Bergonio
My name is PJ Bergonio and I come from Cavite in the Philippines. My journey into animation began when I was a child and was fascinated by the immersive worlds and characters on our small television. I would run home from school, excited to watch my favourite cartoons.

The idea of one day creating my own animated stories was a dream I held onto even as I grew up and started working. After graduating from high school, I enrolled at a local college in my hometown, where I studied information technology with a specialization in computer animation. However, I had trouble finding a job in the field, so I worked in various fields, from factory worker to graphic designer at a small printing company.
Today, I work full-time at FINIDR, and in my free time, after doing my household chores, I devote myself to learning and creating in the challenging and exciting world of 3D animation. I have turned the corner of my room into a mini studio and my evenings into a canvas for my imagination.
For me, 3D animation is the ideal medium for my creativity. It’s not just about making things move, but also about creating worlds and designing characters. It’s a process in which an idea is transformed into a tangible digital reality. Although I am still learning and consider myself a beginner, this challenge motivates me to improve with each project. Every new project is an enriching challenge for me, and completing an animation and sharing it with others brings me a unique sense of accomplishment and joy.
That’s the beauty of a true hobby—it’s not about money or recognition. It’s about the process itself and the immense satisfaction of creating something from nothing. It shows how important it is to devote time and energy to things that truly inspire us, regardless of the circumstances. Whether it’s art, writing, playing a musical instrument, or any other creative activity, a hobby offers a necessary escape from the pressures of everyday life. It’s a space where you can recharge your batteries, express yourself freely, and nurture your soul.
I invite you to join me on my creative journey and check out my work on Instagram @pj.bergz. My experience has taught me that our passions are an essential part of who we are. If you follow them, they will in turn provide you with a sense of meaning and fulfilment that you won’t find anywhere else.
