Editorial

Dear colleagues,

This time, I will start the editorial a little unconventionally. I want to grab your attention and motivate you to read the entire issue of our newsletter. A team of people works on each issue, putting a tremendous amount of energy into its creation (both content and graphics). We are not a professional editorial team, and yet for 20 years we have been creating something incredible with the spirit of every worker´s life! We are one of the few who produce a newsletter on our own, and it is not easy at all. Our magazine reaches beyond the “walls of FINIDR,” and many companies, not only those in the surrounding area, are inspired by it and eagerly await each new issue. A big thank you goes not only to the editorial board, but also to you, employees, who contribute to its content and sometimes have to step out of your comfort zone. Believe me, it makes sense, and I appreciate it. It is a magazine for you, for every employee, and its goal is to provide and convey information about what is happening in the company.

One of our corporate values is “I work on myself.” These corporate values are meant to be an inspiration and guide for every Finidr employee. I also try to learn something new every day. That’s why I’d like to share with you my new experience from recording the first episode of the podcast “Na rovinu” (Straight Up) about life at FINIDR. I am constantly looking for ways to improve communication and the flow of information within the company. I want to be more open and get as close to you as possible. I choose the form of communication that is most appropriate and effective. I am personally convinced that when conflicts, problems, and sometimes even dissatisfaction or apathy arise, it is only because we often do not know how to listen. We do not communicate enough with each other, and we do not know how to explain the steps we are taking.

That’s why I came up with the idea that, in addition to the classic printed newsletter, regular company-wide communications, and weekly information bulletins in production, we would introduce a new format—podcasts or short videos in which we would link current events in the company with strategic information.

When you watch the output of YouTubers or creators of various reels, it seems that creating short videos that circulate on social media is quite simple. The opposite is true. After filming the first episode, I listened to it myself first, then a test group of people. However, we were not satisfied with the first version. We agreed that the chosen format was not ideal and we had to start over. I realized that if you want to create a podcast about important information in a company, it’s really a real alchemy. You need a vision for the whole project. Then you need a script, which you then rework many times. It takes not only a lot of work, but above all, thinking about how to do it in the best possible way. We want the podcast to be interesting and engaging for our employees, but also concise. That’s why it didn’t come out in August as I originally announced, but will be released later. I don’t know the exact date yet, but I’m sure that once we create it, it will become a key element of communication in our printing company.

This experience reminded me of another of our values: “I seek the best solution for the company.” Many things that are now automatically implemented in our company and taken for granted went through a complex process when they were first introduced. If we want good results with new things, we must not settle for imperfect or incomplete solutions. Therefore, it is not a failure that the podcast was not released on the original date. Thank you for waiting for the “tuned” first episode, and I believe the result will be worth it. Rather than releasing something I am not satisfied with, I would rather continue to work intensively on this task to ensure the best possible result. The word “impossible” is forbidden in our company. I am convinced that if we want to, we can overcome even the seemingly insurmountable. There is no reason why we cannot conquer anything we set our minds to. And with this attitude, we can handle almost anything, even new things like podcasting.

The new Finidrak is here, and my team and I hope you enjoy reading it.

I wish you a wonderful autumn!

Yours Jarek Drahoš
