In May, our company underwent the regular annual FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) audit, which focuses on ensuring the sustainable origin of our products.
FSC® certification is an internationally recognised system that aims to promote responsible forest management. The audit is used to verify that products bearing the FSC logo – in our case,
books – actually come from wood that has been harvested in accordance with strict environmental, social and economic standards.
In practice, this means that every entity involved in the production chain, from forest management to the final producer, must have a valid FSC certificate. This ensures the credibility of the whole system and transparency of the origin of the material. As a book manufacturer, it is our responsibility to ensure that all steps involving FSC-certified materials – their purchase, storage, processing and final labelling – are carried out in accordance with the rules of this system.
During the audit, an auditor from an accredited certification company assessed how we apply FSC principles across the company. He focused, among other things, on the purchase of certified materials, the way they are recorded in warehouses and, above all, on ensuring the separability, traceability and traceability of products with and without FSC certification. Much attention was also paid to whether the employees who come into contact with these processes are sufficiently trained and whether we have up-to-date and correctly maintained documentation.
We are pleased to report that the audit was successful and confirmed that our processes meet all the requirements of the FSC standard.
This assessment is all the more pleasing because it confirms our long-term commitment to working with respect for the environment and with responsibility towards future generations.
Many thanks to all those who participated in the preparation and conduct of the audit, as well as to those who have long been involved in the FSC agenda as part of their daily work activities.
