Any process change is inevitably met with nervousness, so it is important to be patient and empathetic when making changes. If the change makes sense, it’s only a matter of time until people embrace it.
To begin thematically, I would first like to share my long-standing passion for reading, which began when I was eight years old. It was then that I first opened the book “The Children of Bullerbyn” and, to the amazement of my parents, read it sixteen times in a row. As I grew up, my reading interests naturally changed – from the Foglar books, through the works of Charles Bukowski, I got into war prose and thrillers, which have been with me for the last five years.
So I was delighted when a job opportunity came up in a field so close to my heart. My previous experience as a project and packaging engineer prepared me for the first challenges I faced at FINIDR.
Together with the manual labor, quality, technology and purchasing team, we were tasked with finding a way to ship books in boxes without the need for bubble wrap and cardboard. While we initially had some concerns about whether this would be possible, today I am pleased to say that we have successfully packaged approximately 40 orders more efficiently, more environmentally friendly and, dare I say, more aesthetically pleasing to the customer, without complaint.
In order to be able to pack most of the books without additional material, it was necessary to design a completely new type of boxes with more precise dimensions and to change the working habits of the operators. The ladies are currently undergoing training and are gradually getting used to the changes. Of course, sometimes we still encounter minor difficulties in distinguishing between the new and the original boxes, which leads to minor errors in packing. However, the operators are approaching their work responsibly and I am convinced that by the time this article is published, they will be more familiar with the changes, the packing process will go more smoothly, there will be no more work with preparing additional material, and if there are problems, we will solve them.
With that, I thank everyone who is helping me to implement this change and has been patient with me.
