How we don’t know him: Michal Čverčko

When you say “festival” most people imagine music, crowds of fans, and an amazing atmosphere. But the first thing that comes to my mind is something completely different, namely the structures, all the lighting and sound suspension systems, and the details of the stage on a scale of approximately 1:100.  For more than 12 years, I have been building festival stages that look like their real-life counterparts.

I started with the legendary Sensation festival, which fascinated me from the very beginning. At that time, I told myself that I would simply build the show—and I haven’t stopped since. Today, I have several projects under my belt, including Beats for Love, whose model I handed over to the festival director in November 2025. One of my first models even made its way to Amsterdam to the organizers of Sensation themselves.

Some people enjoy reading books or watching movies in their spare time – I prefer to rack my brains over how to solve a technically complex part of a scene so that it looks exactly like the original and, above all, so that everything holds together properly. That’s when I enjoy it the most – when I have to think about the construction, lighting, and details that give the whole structure its appearance and functionality.

I have been attracted to architecture and design since childhood. I studied a field related to design, and today I am involved (at least as a hobby) in everything from interiors to exteriors to scenic design. I love challenges, precision, and creativity – and festival stage models combine all of these into one hobby that has been fulfilling me for more than a decade.

During the COVID period, when no festivals were taking place, I decided to create two completely fictional shows of my own. It was a challenge from the first sketch to the finished scene—all according to my own imagination. When everything was ready, around 2,000 people watched these online shows, and thanks to them, I realized that my work could entertain others as well.

In addition to the models themselves, I also create video animations for LED panels, which are a big part of all festivals these days. I start from scratch – mapping the scene and designing the layout of the panels to the final graphics that fit perfectly with the rhythm of the music. This allows the entire model to really “come to life” – not only in terms of construction, but also in terms of lighting and visuals.

In the fall of 2025, I started an Instagram page called MC STAGE MODEL, where I share behind-the-scenes preparations, the construction of individual scenes, and finished models. I am gradually adding videos with my animations, which I incorporate into the models, so you can get an idea of what the scene looks like “in action.” It is a new project that is still growing. If you enjoy looking into the world of miniatures and large projects, I would be happy if you took a look and subscribed.
