Frankfurt Book Fair – how we represented ourselves and what we experienced

Text by: Dominik Vavřena

Our company not only had its own exhibition stand, but also the opportunity to establish new business contacts and follow the latest trends in the industry.

For the first time in our history at the fair, I represented FINIDR at the stand of the association of independent authors, where I had several hour-long consultation slots during the fair for anyone who wanted to stop by and talk about book production.

Our stand was very busy on the very first day of the fair. Not a single one of the five free tables and one bar table remained empty.

The team of five sales representatives, together with the sales director, managed to attend almost 35 scheduled meetings during the day. Those who did not have meetings at the time devoted their time to visitors who came to see our exhibition.

On the second day, we were joined by Kristina Kyjonková, a sales representative for the French market, who came straight from her France business trip to Germany.

At that moment, a literal battle for free tables began. Fortunately, we were all able to take turns and everything went smoothly thanks to perfect cooperation.

Thursday brought approximately 40 scheduled meetings and several spontaneous discussions.

On the same day, FINIDR held its first ever one-hour consultation session at the joint stand of independent authors, where I had the honour of representing the company in person. I was a little nervous for the first fifteen minutes, as I didn’t know exactly how the event would unfold. However, I had my own designated space where I displayed samples of our books. Gradually, authors began to arrive with their questions – they were interested in the possibilities of refinement, the complexity of production, and the printing process itself.

The third day of the fair was a little calmer for me personally. We had about 19 scheduled meetings at our stand, but the number of visitors certainly did not decrease.

Since it was my last day at the fair, I took advantage of my free time to go downstairs and visit other exhibitors.

I managed to approach several new potential clients and then continued on to Hall 1, where another hour of consulting awaited me at the joint stand of independent authors. This time, the authors were waiting for me, and we got straight down to work.

The feedback was very positive—clients and potential customers appreciated our quality and professionalism, praised the refinement options, and sent their regards to our customer service team, which takes exceptional care of them.

In three days, I personally led 27 scheduled meetings, managed to greet our regular customers at their stands, and even had several unplanned conversations.

At the independent authors’ stand, I spoke with 12 to 15 authors in two hours, from whom we are already expecting the first inquiries.

Finally, I would like to highlight the amazing design of our stand, the excellent service we offered to customers, and the wonderful atmosphere that prevailed among us.

A big thanks go to Lenka Ďurišová for all her work from the preparations to the actual running of the fair, to Martina Stružínská for her willingness to help at any time, and also to Mr. Klos and Mr. Drahoš for their trust and support, thanks to which we were able to present ourselves at the world’s largest book fair again this year.

Thanks also go to all our colleagues – without you, the feedback from clients would not have been so positive.

We are all part of something amazing – we are FINIDR! Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I wish you every success in the future.
